Portugal among Europe's best-value holiday destinations - The Portugal News

Portugal was named one of Europe’s best-value holiday destinations because hotels and restaurant meals are significantly cheaper than in many popular hotspots.
The comparison used Eurostat price level data to assess holiday costs across countries including Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece, France, Turkey and Croatia.
Portugal stood out especially for lower accommodation and dining costs, two of the biggest expenses for most travelers.
Turkey was the cheapest destination overall in the comparison.
Italy was the most expensive of the Mediterranean countries included.
Spain was also relatively affordable, particularly for food.
Prices in Portugal are higher in Lisbon, parts of the Algarve and Porto during peak summer months.
Alentejo, central Portugal and quieter parts of the Algarve can offer better value outside July and August.
Portugal remains attractive because it combines competitive prices with good food, comfortable accommodation and strong international demand.
