The Gujaratis: A Portrait of a Community

I’ve spent time in Gujarat and have a bunch of Gujarati friends, so I’ve always been curious about why this community seems to “punch above its weight” globally. This book is the best long-form answer I’ve found: commerce, migration, family networks, religion, politics, and philanthropy - an anthropological look at how they maintain this across a global diaspora. This is one of those books that’s not for everybody, as it’s quite long, extensive, and detailed, but truly worth the read if you’re curious about this powerful community.
